Artist Statement
I believe Nudity in Art has always been celebrated and documented throughout the years, there's even petroglyphs of the human body ever since the beginning of the human race on Earth.
Personally, I experiment with the Nude Female Figure because is the source of my inspiration, I love to contemplate its form and my mission is to capture and interpret her beauty, imperfections, essence, character and soul. In addition to that my work is a celebration of film photography, movement, Cubism and scale.
Gaspar Marquez after developing his first photos in the darkroom, fell in love with the photographic contact sheet as a whole image and decided to honor this process by adding his own personal twist to the classic recipe. These images belong to a series called The Bodyscapes. His unique artistic style is an expression of creating images in an almost mathematical way, dissecting the subject aesthetics piece by piece, somehow creating an illusion of movement as a consequence of the 35 or more shots taken in the making of the "contact sheet". Therefore, these images all together are seen as a whole and allow the viewer to witness an almost life-size 2D sculpture in a Neo-Cubism fashion.
The major motivation of his work is to explore its relation-limits between all these elements: film photography, movement, scale and the figure. He attempts to blur these lines, mixing them up and as a result creating an ambiguous vibration or optical illusion between a 2D image and the audience.
Let me walk you through the process of my work. In this video, let me explain you what goes through in the making of this body of work titled “ The Bodyscapes”…Have a seat, get some popcorn, your favorite drink and enjoy.

Personally, I experiment with the Nude Female Figure. I experiment with the nude female body because is the source of my inspiration, I love to contemplate its form and my mission is to capture and interpret her beauty, imperfections, essence, character and soul. I always felt the need to photograph it, I am convinced that I unconsciously wanted to freeze the female beauty in eternity.
Cityscapes is a body of work that aims to interpret my vision of “The Ultimate Big City of the World”.. It’s an homage to Manhattan in regards its size, presence, somehow I aim to measure its unreachable height, dimensions in an abstract and Noir feeling and somehow touch its core and/or emotions if there is such a thing in this running machine.
This is a page dedicated to my work published in magazines and in special edition books celebrating the Female Form in an Artistic and Creative Expression throughout the years… Scroll down to see more!. Enjoy.

Assignment.
I've always been attracted to the Sonoran Desert in souther Arizona. I don't know, for some reason I think it's such a special, mysterious and magical place on Earth. This body of work I'm showing you is an homage to this unique habitat where I found all these special elements that I'm drawn to, especially the Monarch of the Desert which is Carnegiea gigantea or Saguaro. By 95-100 years in age, a saguaro cactus can reach a height of 15-16 feet, and could start to produce its first arm. By 200 years old, the saguaro cactus has reached its full height, reaching upwards of 45 feet tall.
Approach.
I drove to the Saguaro National Park west, I found the perfect spot and hiked until I felt I had approached the perfect suspects for my assignment, or let me put it this way, I felt that the Saguaros chose me to take their portraits.
Results.

These images I am showing you belong to a portfolio titled “ Bodies of Light”, The process of my work is probably 95 percent all in camera, I use multiple flash bursts, different flash power, angles, diffusions, snoots, gels, colors and exposure time, not to mention focus, depth of field and movement. After that it was cleaned in photoshop and the final result was an archival pigment print.
I experiment with the Nude Female Body personally, it's the source of my inspiration and it will always be!. I found another universe in the Nude, an infinite ocean of possibilities to express myself to the rest of the world. I love to contemplate the female form and capture her beauty, imperfections, essence , character and soul. Nude art making and my unique way of creating images through photography are paramount to fulfill my life as an artist. This story was shot in the middle of a park in Brooklyn NY. It was a dog day afternoon, sticky, muggy and the air was so thick and heavy that I could barely breath sometimes but my model Franzi made it all worth. She was very eager and willing to pose and be photographed despite the weather, not to mention that some pedestrians might be able to watch us shooting nudes in the park. However, I wanted to convey this feeling of a perfect environment blended with her essence and energy somehow overlapped with the thickness of the vegetation, surreal beams of light and her Beautiful Nude Female Form.
This is a personal project of my own, I always wanted to capture the essence of the Metal community anonymously, I mean, I wanted to protect the identity of the people being photographed while portraying their " True colors ", if you don't know what I mean, in the metal community, fans go to shows wearing their favorite band patches sewn to their denim vests usually represented as a support statement to their band or as a reference to a specific band/music preference. As a result, one gets a sense of the individual musical taste and personality before you get to meet them. Back in the day, the Metal vest was considered by many people like a personal presentation card before the digital age.
The process for this project was very casual but very diligent and professional, I had this idea to photograph Metal fans in their element, being proud and loud while wearing their vests and I realized that there was no better place than in a live show. Since I am a Metal lover myself it was easy for me to blend in the crowd and reach out to my subject in a very relaxed and easygoing manner. Not to mention, I used an iPhone7 to capture my images and to avoid the strict security concert guidelines for professional photographers.
Dozens of images shot across the Northeast of America, especially, New York City, Philadelphia and Phoenix Az. I curated the best 7 images I believe make the strongest statement about the personality, and psychological identity of a Metal Fan.

Nude art making and my unique way of creating images through photography are paramount to fulfill my life as an artist . This story was shot in a chic boutique hotel in Manhattan. I had a conversation with Wen Li my model , we talked about numerology, balance, harmony, mysticism, Yin & Yang and the perfect flow of the Universe. I wanted to convey this emotion I was feeling of a perfect harmony and flow interpreted by the night, the Nude and the Female Form.
IMPOSSIBLE POLAROIDS is an Edgy Editorial, I was supposed to shoot Gia only, she was coming from Fl to NY but her sister Noma came along too, it was all kinda very funny and spontaneous at the same time, it’s definitely part of the story, Noma couldn’t resist to be in front of the camera and thanx to that, I believe I got this sense of spontaneity, fun, eroticism and it’s all genuine at the same time as well. We ended up drinking IDK how many bottles of wine and trashing the hotel room but we managed to shoot this really cool black and white Impossible Film, the new Polaroid, a little pricey but the outcome was pretty cool! …And would love to share this with you, enjoy!
